About AGE

AGE provides professional development resources that support educators in understanding different philosophies and approaches to selecting, developing and interpreting assessment. You may view the online lessons or download the unique iPod and MP3 audio versions for mobile learning. Topics include:
  1. Introduction and Lay of the Land
    These lessons explain how expertise in educational measurement can support teachers in continuously improving instruction. Lessons cover testing, evaluation, assessment, the historical contexts, and some controversies associated with testing.
  2. Test Scores
    These lessons describe types of test scores and test interpretation methods such as norm and criterion referencing.
  3. Principles of Measurement
    Module 3 covers technical aspects of test quality: reliability, validity, fairness, and methods of developing standardized tests.
  4. What Does this Mean for My Classroom?
    This module explains how classroom teachers can effectively use the results of large-scale assessments.
  5. Specific Major Tests
    This module provides information about the technical quality, content, and administration of commercially available K-12 assessments as well as advice as to how to find out more about specific state large-scale assessment systems.
