Module Quick Start Guide
This Quick Start Guide for installing eLearn Design modules is for system
administrators installing eLearn Design modules. See the readme.html file for
more detailed information.
- Download desired module(s) and uncompress them in a directory on your web
server. We recommend "elearnmodules" as a directory name. Each module is
available in both .zip and .tar.gz formats, choose the one you prefer.
- Move the 'rmedia' directory (located at the root level of the module) to
your RealServer content folder. This assumes a standard RealServer. If your
RealServer installation is non-standard please refer to your RealServer
documentation to resolve addressing issues. Important Note! Each
module's 'rmedia' directory is uniquely named by appending an underscore and
the module identifier to the 'rmedia' directory name. For example, if the
module you are downloading is a101 or the Instructor's Module, you will find
that the rmedia directory is named, 'rmedia_a101'. Each module's 'rmedia"
directory has it's own unique identifier and these names must not be changed.
- Use a text editor (we use TextPad) to open the rmedia_server.js file
(located at the root level of the module) and modify this file to reflect the
address of your RealServer.
- Use a computer with a properly configured browser and Real Player to test
the functioning of the module including the streamed presentations.
- Ensure that the modules you have installed are password protected
according to the standards and policies of your institution. The eLearn Design
requests that all modules be password protected.
